Hōʻea Agricultural Park

Hōʻea Agricultural Park – Preparation of Master Plan and Management Strategy

New-Picture-9Hōʻea Agricultural Park is a private agricultural park situated at Upolu Point in North Kohala serving the North Kohala community, Island of Hawaiʻi and State of Hawaiʻi. Envisioned similarly to a State agricultural park, the park will set aside land for agricultural activities to encourage continuation or initiation of agricultural operations, making land available to small farmers with short- and long-term tenure. The intent is to operate this as an overall agricultural park utilizing efficient use of resources and maximizing the productivity of the land based on appropriate agricultural uses.

The vision of the Hōʻea Agricultural Park is the development and management of the agricultural park as a diversified, collaborative, sustainable system, that provides land access and farming opportunities for multiple small farmers whose production, marketing and education activities support local food availability, that is economically viable, environmentally sound and provides value for all participants – the North Kohala community, farmers, collaborators and Hawaiʻi County residents.
